The pains of finding the perfect hand bag ....

What a few ppl only know is that despite my more casual shirt and jeans kind of clothes, I'm a sucker for hand bags (or purses). I love ... no I LOVE THEM. For years I have been trying to hunt down the perfect hand bag ... black leather, roomy enough to loose a folder or two in it and of course, with long handles so I can either slung it around my shoulder or wear it in my hand.

For years I have been alternating between a red Oilily diaper bag (yep, the red Swan LOL) and a real leather Kelly/Birkin bag reproduction. While I love both handbags, they have both seen better days, especially as the diaper bag is the favourite spot for Chandini to sleep on and/or in.

Anyway, my point in this post ...
Anyone know 'The Closer', the TNT TV series with Kyra Sedgwick? Her character Brenda Leigh Johnson has the perfect, and I mean PERFECT bag (among a wardrobe to kill for).


Apparently, a reproduction was available for a short time on QVC but it was in PVC and badly fabricated. It turns out that this bag was especially made for the Brenda Leigh character by the costume design department of the show. SIGH!

I'm obsessed ... I wonder if a good leather fabricator can reproduce this bag if given the right measurements. I'm determined to screencap any ep where this bag is shown LOL

I know what you mean about handbags - I bought a new one on saturday, even though my partner asked, why I need another black handbag and where I supposedly would store it. Men!!!!
It is not black exactly and there is always room in my cupboard for a handbag ;-)
Well - the one you favour I would describe as a real classic. I am sure I have seen similar one's in large departements stores, but I know, how it is, when you have set your heart on something special and can't find it. Then a substitute is out of the question.

There are never too many hand bags LOL ... where other women go for shoes I go for handbags :)
I also have seen similar bags but they are all about 30x5x20 cm and the The Closer bag is much bigger (http://blog.newsok.com/fashionmatters/files/2008/07/thecloseraction.jpg). In the first photo I posted it looks so tiny but it's a real shopper.

HAHAH HAHAHA! You love that bag, eh? I bet a lot of women do! I shot my friend Addy and email and asked if she's come across anything like this. She's a HUGE fan of the series and an avid online shopper, so if anyone knows, she would!

I completely understand your obsession with the right bag! Personally I like to carry a messenger bag of some sort. I spent AGES and too much money buying bags until I found my perfect one. Which is no longer in production, so as the bigger version is wearing a bit, I got a smaller one exactly like it off a clearance shop on Amazon! Woo hoo!

It isn't the same thing but I'll recommend one of my fav brands (I'm a bags and shoes fan... *cough*) This Unexpected tracolla black is a bit bigger (not 35, it's 40cm) but may not be enough... but well, just in case ;)

Yeah the search for the right bag is always a long one ... I had one perfect bag 20 year ago and I had to throw it away about 5 years ago because it just fell apart.

Ah isn't Unexpected a Marina Duck bag?
I know of that brand but here we have almost all only the bag packs, not the canvas tote.
