I'm so in love with my kitchen. The dog guard is in place and I will be putting on the finishing touches to the kitchen (by moving the buffet) tomorrow. Then I'll start on the huge chest that goes into the hall. I just hope it will be small enough to fit through the door once I have finished painting it.

I've put some photos up on the walls in the hall. It looks really nice and I have found other black frames to put in pics of the dogs or landscapes for the front hall.

Work tops and shelves ...

And tonight's yumminess:

Unsweetened whole-egg pancakes with tomato salad. YUM!

Every time I see that wall color I like it even more. It sets off your pictures perfectly.

The pancake batter is easy to make and you can make it sweet (by just adding sugar) or leave it as a more spicy variation.

Ingredients:
250 grams of flour
1/4 litre of milk
2 eggs
1 small pinch of salt
some butter

How to:
Mix flour, milk, yolk and a pinch of salt to a smooth batter and let it rest for 15 minutes. Beat the egg white and fold it into the batter. Heat up the frying pan with little bit of butter, fill a small ladle with batter and pour it into the pan for a thin layer.
Turn the pancake when the upper top is not liquid anymore. Fry both sides golden brown.

The thinner you make them, and by adding lots of sweet spices (vanilla or cinnamon etc.) you can create Crepe from that recipe as well.

Traditionally, here in Germany we make them thicker and add either fresh peeled apple slices (or sliced cherries or plums) into the batter and bake them or add sugar to the batter and then spread marmalade or jam on the pancakes. But I don't like the sweet kind, so tomato salad for me it is :)

Tomato salad:
4 tomoatoes, any kind of tomato, preferably with lots of juice
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
1 onion
vinegar
olive oil

Make a oil/vinegar vinaigrette, slice the tomatoes in eighth, add them into the vinaigrette and stir. Let rest for ten minutes, stir again.

Serve by layering pancake and salad, add lots of juice to the last layer, let it soak and eat ... YUMMY!!!
