Today, I realized how much I miss real life exchanges about things that are important to me. While walking the dogs with His Hubbiness™ and friends, I noticed that apart from topics like animal protection, our dogs and housework, I do not have a lot in common with the other women I spent time with. Not even with my two best friends but then we only meet once a year in August so that's okay.

No ... I noticed today that my whole fan girl life only takes place on-line or when [livejournal.com profile] little_witch27 is here. There are no SMAP fans around me, no VK fans ... and if they are they are far too young and could be my kids. No one really likes Asian doramas because they are not dubbed and how on Earth can I think Japan is cool, anyway?!

I guess this is all the fangirling I ever get off-line.

Same here, for the most part.

I am soooo lucky that my daughter loves the same stuff that I do, and we can fangirl together. :D She's the one who has turned me onto most of what I fangirl about in the first place.

But other than her, no one in RL really knows what the hell I'm on about.

Oh shucks ... stupid LJ didn't send me a reminder .. Happy very belated birthday, fellow Scorpio :D
I didn't know you were round about my age range :) It is so good to meet older fans of Kimura and SMAP :)

At least you can fan girl with her. I really need to find someone over here ... I already thought about joining the local Japanese Culture Club but most members are 50+ and organizing bus tours to favourite stops in Germany for their members which is ... not so my thing :s

I'm in the same situation. I've met some local fangirls, but they are all half my age and I just don't feel comfortable squeeing like a teenager about JE boys or dramas or something like that. I can talk about fandom and fannish things on a general level with some friends, but they just aren't interested in the same stuff as I am. At least I can do that online.

This has always been my problem too... when I was a teenager (no internet at all at that time>.<) I suffered a lot because of my love for Japanese Anime and Manga that no one could understand, apart my best friend... the two of us felt like being isolated from the rest of the teen universe, really...
I found my little paradise at University, as I studied Japanese language and culture, so I felt blessed to be surrounded by people who could really share my interests...
then, after taking my degree, I felt lost again, all alone in this little and boring Italian town, so far away from Tokyo...
Thank goodness I managed to surf the net and found again a wonderful world where people from all around the world can share the love for Japan and... SMAP!
SMAP is my big, big blessing, thanks to those five guys I found myself willing to study Japanese again, and making Japanese friends, and my "Japanese soul" found the greatest accomplishment ever.
I love you, SMAP... why can't I be in NYC right now, to meet you all?? T___________T

Here too. Today was such a typical day ... I'm in a German lanuage dog forum and there was a thread about favourite music ... least to say that I received several Eeeeh? kind of comments and some making fun of the costumes and stuff.

OH well, at least on-line I know there are ppl I can talk to :)

Same here ... through SMAP I picked up on studying Japanese again. I never thought I would become proficient enough to actually understand Japanese enough to understand anything let alone making subs. This is all thanks to SMAP and Takuya Captain :D

Wow...I somehow missed this. Or rather, thought I replied, but didn't. Yikes! So sorry.

And (very) belated thanks for the birthday wishes! When's your birthday? YAY for Scorpios!

Yeah, it is nice. I totally agree. :)

LOL. Oh yeah, we definitely fangirl.:D I do hope you can find someone to have fun with all of this.

Shame they can't organizine trips to Japan, nee? ;)
