Hope you had a happy solstice
Jun. 22nd, 2008 06:33 pmTo celebrate the longest day of the year we set out with a friend and her two dogs to a nice leisurely four hour walk through the woods near our hometown. Unfortunately, there were still places in the woods where the aftermath of Hurricane Kyril from January 2007 were very evident. But it was a beautiful trip and apart from the innumerous mosquito bites I got, humans and dogs enjoyed the trip very much.
Bright skies where there were canopied trees before

Wood flowers

Bathing time in the woods

How to get a water mad dog out of the rivulet?

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade. ~Gertrude Jekyll
Is it just me or did this June slip through our hands sooner than the previous months? I have been doing so many things and once I stop and turn it is already the end of June and thus the eginning of summer. At last, the feeling says, relief flooding me but on the other hand I wish all those lazy hours in front of the sewing machine in winter back again. Oh well; winter comes sooner than we think.

Date: 2008-06-23 06:26 am (UTC)I am a bit slow to respond today as the mosquito bite on my right hand has swelled up so much my hand loks like stuck in one of those rubbergloves that have been inflated. An it itches and hurts :s I guess I have to go to the doctors.

Date: 2008-06-23 06:29 am (UTC)I think I mostly see and/or come across scary big dogs in Indonesia because most people usually keep dogs to guard their house. Not very many keep dogs for pets like they do in the west. If I meet dogs and puppies like Chandini and Cenour-Kimura I think I may just be okay with dogs in RL ^o^

Date: 2008-06-23 06:57 am (UTC)Cenour reacting aggressively towards another dog who wanted to say hi to Chica. I had to keep him in my lap with force otherwise he would have jumped the dog. Since then they have become good friends but sometimes Cenour can turn into a werewolf.

Date: 2008-06-23 08:09 am (UTC)I unfortunatley had a miserable summer solstice because the weather here in the UK is just crap! The winds have been so strong I almost got blown over walking out, and it rained.
I think our summer has finshed here :(

Date: 2008-06-23 08:10 am (UTC)He has the teeth to prove that he definitely is a descendant of wolves. But yes, looking at him now as he lies at my feet, it is really difficult to imagine him becoming a werewolf. But it happens, esp. with dogs which don't know any calming signals (dogs as well as wolves have special facial expressions that tell other dogs that they are not welcome, or that the dog is not feeling up to intimate doggy contacts etc. and these are called calming signals). One of the biggest differences between a norml dog here and a dog coming from a animal help organisation is that the animal help organisation dog knows and uses these signals as they are kept in packs during transition from one country to the next. This way they are socialized and can handle dog enconters better. Dogs that hve been bred and raised here are normally kept as solo dogs with onyl humnas their palay mates etc. This way a dog can react aggressively while encounterin those. They just don't *speak* the right body language.
