30 Days 7-12

With Chica having her surgery and me being sick I haven't had time to photograph special moments in my life. Especially as the days when I had to take care of Chica were very intense and I treasured every breath and sigh of her.

A moment in my life - holding a shivering little dog in my arms, sleeping blissfully and without pain as she sleeps off her anaesthesia.
A moment where she eats her usual chicken and carrots after she had difficulties before while biting her food.
A moment where she barks like she did before - a happy, crazy, high-pitched bark.
A moment of worry when ichor gathered at her throat and the whole area was hot.
A moment of joy when Chica is her old grumpy self at the vet.

Then today, there was this moment of the first long walk with her after the surgery and a tree showed the first tentative signs of spring. A new beginning, life surging up again ... I desperately hope this is a sign.



And then Chica running and playing and being her old self ... enjoying the wonderful day and doing her doggy things.


Always coming back to mommy ... my wonderful sweet pumpkin.

This is so beautiful - you seem to have spring already and Chica looks very ready for spring with that scarf..

For the last two weeks we had very cold but sunny weather. Beautiful skies but oh so cold. I had to wear long johns beneath my jeans as well as several layers of sweaters and jumpers. Even Chica and Cenour had to wear wintercoats.
It surprised me that despite the cold, spring seems to be coming.

We also happy that she is doing relatively well. Hopefully she will stay with us a lot while longer.

Thank you ... to tell you the truth after the surgery where she didn't feel too well, I questioned myself more than once if I'm doing the right thing. She is old and so sick and now I have her go through this surgery. Some ppl around here asked why I don't let nature run its course, but doing nothing and just watching Chica die is not my cup of tea. Besides, she is still so full of life, that it would be a crime to let her go without this surgery which clearly eases her breathing and barking and makes her a happy dog.

The scarf is quilted, this way if she bumps her throat (and wound) into something accidentally, it is still safe. Pink for our Princess :)
