scottishlass: (Chica Jump)

On Saturday the weather was cold and stormy but the sky was amazingly blue and the sun was out!! His Hubbiness™ took Chica and Cenour to the river Rhine and took some beautiful pictures.

Chica and her thick winter fur, we need to get her trimmed a bit as it gets more difficult to comb through though.

Almost blown off by the wind :)

The old poser :D

My cuddly little sunshine

Yep, you see right ... windsurfer on the river Rhine in between the ships and boats transporting goods.

Chica is very well. She is still a little terror, but she sleeps a lot more than before. But so far she doesn't show any signs of illness and I hope she will stay with us a lot longer. On Saturday she will reach her next milestone - yet another Southern Dogs Walking Event where she can meet her doggy friends. So we live from one week to the next. I love her so much, my little sunshine.

once again you bring us the fabulous dog pictures! they're all soooo gorgeous, you can see the fluffiness and the great facial expressions! what a couple of hams you've got! so pretty! I'm sure Shoji wishes he could run and play along the Rhine with them!

On Friday she'll get her next shot of cortisone but she is fit and terroizing the dogs as ever :) Of course she sleeps longer now, but then she is an old girl, so we hope she will be with us for little while still.

I think so too ... Shoji would have a blast at the river Rhine.
Cenour and Chica enjoy it very much, esp. as Cenour can play in the water and Chica can snuffle and look for mice.

ooh, Chica looks for mice? has she ever found any? what does she do if she spots one???

She is a mice killer ... last time she killed a mouse she punced on it and the mouse died from a heart stroke. She had pounced on the poor mouse's tail :s
But normally she just tries to catch it but due to her poor eyesight she cannot see them well anymore.

wow, poor mouse, even though that's kind of cute and sad at the same time! I can only imagine that Shoji would do the same thing, since Schnauzers were bred to hunt rats!

Yep ... I think he would enjoy a good hunt. Did you ever think of doing some mantrailing or dummy work with him? SO he can use his exceptionally good nose?

I don't know what those are; what are they?

Mantrailing is where the dog has to find a person just from finding him by smelling. A lot of dogs are able to do that and they have fun sniffing and finding the right way.

Dummy work is just that ... you work with a dummy (usually a pouch with treats in it that smell good). Then you show the dummy to the dog, let him sniff and then you throw it away and the dog has to find the dummy. By successful retrieval he gets a treat out of the pouch.

Even though I've known these pictures, they never fail to make me gush. I kinda miss your furkids, especially darling Cenour with his calm dignity. He is quite a majesty in his own right. Say Hello to him from me, and to Little Miss Heathcliff on the D-dorf Moors. ;)

Tomorrow she gets another shot of cortisone. Though today I noticed her lymph nodes on her jaw are bigger than before. I hope it is just because she has a slight cold :(
