Sick Day

I'm sick as a dog today ... did eat something that didn't agree with me and I feel as if my whole stomach has been turned inside out with a sprinkle of napalm thrown in for the right kind of cramps :s
Called in sick at the STK but hugged the porcelain bowl most of the day :s
The weirdest thing though is that my stomach things it's hungry and Olly is not helping and snacking his favourite stuff right in front of me. *sigh*

Additionally, my FTP client is acting up and I can't update m.i.t.m. - sorry about that. My pro-work is in the stocks as well, I don't think I can finish it till Friday :s I hate that but I don't think I will be able to finish this project in time ...

Last night I watched Karan Arjun. Man, Rakesh Roshan has some problems with revenge. That was one big blood fest, though it was nice to see SRK in his second movie, and together with Kajol and Salman Khan (gratuitious bare-chested shots included - Salman not SRK). But this is one movie that my little god-daughter will NOT see. Jeesh talking about repressed blood lust, I wonder what this director is like in real life if he puts something like this up on celluloid.

i'm sorry.. i was sick too recently.. but it only lasted two days max.. lots of tylenol and pepto bismal for the fever, headaches and stomach ickiness. but it left me feeling pretty disgusting. it must be some stomach virus that's travelling the length and breadth of europe.

and yes, karan arjun .. hmmm. i loathe salman khan. the man's a brute. the movie's just funny. :-) i thank god i wasn't really into hindi movies at that point. hehe.

*sigh*

Personally, I found the veiled violence in Main Hoon Na much more disturbing. It's like "Hey, we are a colorful, sparkly, fun movie. Oooops, now we are going to blow somebody's brains out.". While Karan Arjun was pretty bloody for Hollywood standards (especially the end with the heros executing the villain) I thought it was rather tame (villains being taken out by throwing pots at them?) compared to some of the Indian revenge movies I have seen or heard about.

I was mainly shocked how much younger Salman Khan looked in that movie. Totally not used to that.

Oh MHN also is quite bloody but it is more in style of Hollywood than this whole revenge because Kali-ma. Although I liked MHN because it was such a spoof of Matrix and Mission Impossible.

I ate over-ripe tomatoes yesterday, I love tomatoes but these were already soggy so i put them into a salad, shouldn't have done it.

Salman Khan ... yeah I heard about the manslaughter charges as well as his treatment against various of his girl-friends. Also that he drinks quite a lot, which for a Muslim is quite unusual. That man has some serious problems :-(

Karan Arjun, I was laughing so loud at some of the shots as well as the clothes ... It was straight out of the Eighties even though it was done - what - 1992/3? And that kiss in the stable boy meets rich girl picturization? I waited for something to happen for ages and then SRK had to shield *the kiss* with his hands *LOL*

The Mission Impossible spoof was hilarious :) I did like MHN, but as I said, I thought that the violence was way more disturbing because it was wrapped in such a neat colorful package. Than it would be to see violence in a film about violence.

I totally cheered all the way through the huuuge SRK/Salman fistfight. And SRK was totally winning :D

the whole movie screams 'bollywood kitsch' to me. but shah rukh is still loveable. i just think it's so goofy in that song how they have a huge set of lips on the billboard and the dress that kajol's wearing, she's nearly popping out of it, but they won't show a simple kiss. haha.. sometimes the hypocrisy is funny, sometimes annoying. but i guess in today's oversexed society it's refreshing sometimes. but now apparently [i haven't been watching the average hindi movie] they're getting pretty graphic and daring, actresses... no.. just models turned 'actresses' who don't feel any moral resistance to taking off their clothes. whoa.. ok.. i'll stop now. haha.. sorry i'm in one of those ranting moods today. :-/

The scene where he teaches her how to use the slingshot was sooo adorable. Wish we could have seen more of that.

Yep :) that was hilarious .. and I liked the double meaning in their dialogues, it didn't come well across in the subs but I have been brushing up on my Hindi and the dialoque was pretty hilarious and ambigious :)

Oh yeah the *skin flicks* as they are called. I have been seeing one or two but you know ... they don't have the charm and apparently they are not as big a hit as the *old fashioned* movies. And I don't think you will never see one of the big names like Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Kajol or even Aish (though I'm not quite sure about her) taking their clothes off.
Kajol wore bloomers under her short white mini skirt in Mere Khwabon Mein :) And longish spandex biker pants in Karan Arjun. Kareena looked pretty hot in Asoka but still she wore a padded top which did only show a small hint of cleavage or the shape of her breasts.

I think it won't be so much fun anymore to watch those skin flicks. I mean I love Bollywood for its cheesiness as well as their PGness (which is strange as I'm one of those who mainly write NC17 smut fanfiction *lol*). but I don't particularly fancy watching SRK, Hrithik or even Orlando Bloom for that matter in a bed scene in a flick. Takes the magic and imagination right out of the complete movie.

Okay, yes I can understand why you have problems with MHN then. The setting was a bit too colourful though I loved the first ten minutes of the movie. And was appalled that Kabir Bedi is so old now (I was a kid when I watched Sandokan and had his poster up on the wall).
i think if Farah Khan had toned down a bit the college/happy people angle MHN would have been a very good action flick. And I love ARK watching doing stunts and all that shooting. The music videos were even quite distracting from the movie IMHO.

*nods solemnly* agreed on everything. ash.. she would be risking her international reputation now if she did a 'skin flick' in bad taste, so not likely. she has some arty movies too.. "choker bali" which is bengali [more high class than hindi movies ;-)] and raincoat [where her co-star is non other than kajol's hubby, ajay devgan. dammit, i meant for this to be a short reply. hahah. :-*

Thank you :) Yeah the new pics of Kajol ... she looks good, but not so ... Kajol-Dewanna anymore. She has grown up, and dammit I want a new movie with her and SRK. Something along the lines of an action movie, or along Swades. Perhaps even set totally in Mumbai or Dehli, some Hollywood meets Bollywood action, with a non-passive Hindi heroine.
Oh well one can always dream :)

I LOVE Karan Arjun. It's totally violent and totally cheesy and totally fun. But yeah, RR loves revenge: he also did Koyla where SRK wreaks revenge on Amrish Puri and a host of others after he gets cured of his muteness with a fish hook. It is really worth a watch. He also did KNPH which has Hrithik wreaking revenge for the second half of the movie. Krrish, coming out this year also has a revenge plot. I guess "stick to what you know" is his motto :)

Oh I just LOVE your icon, dangermousie :)

I have heard not too many good reviews of Koyla, so I'm still a bit hesitant to actually buy it. Lots of SRK with a bandana?
*LOL*
I'm just wondering about Hrithik, I mean if his dad has so many issues with revenge and stuff, how did his childhood/adolescence look like? Poor man :)

And I love your icon *swoon*

Koyla is by no means a good movie. However, it is insanely entertaining and SRK looks great. Nehaflix used to have it for 5.99 and it's worth about that.

Re: Hrithik. No wonder he has arm muscles the size of hams.

LOL true .. he was okay in K3G but I have seen some pics recently where he looked almost hideous :s As I said Poor man :)

Well I have a look at my local India store, they have some movies for €7 which is really inexpensive as some movies will cost up to €33 and more (Germany is just really expensive since the Euro introduction :s)

That is insanely expensive. Usually, even new movies from nehaflix are $17.99, which would be euro 14 or so. 33 euro is 40 or so bucks. That's insane!

Here in Germany we have this strange thinking of .. if it is rare or not often asked for, make it expensive. :(
