Hana Kimi Ikemen Paradise vs. Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu

It seems I'm the only one who on first seeing Hana Kimi Ikemen Paradise don't like it very much. Japan has so many beautiful young talents but it all seems like the production team has got a knack in chosing the most ugly ones instead (perhaps they could only afford one JE boy, but even Ikuta Toma is not one of the pretty JE boys).
But apart from the missing pretty, they have changed the plot around. And not only for the sake of live action realization. No, if I hadn't known that this was actually Hana Kimi, I wouldn't have recognized it.
I think they wanted to make it more mature - but the whole manga is not mature, folks. The whole story works because it is so out there and cracktastic. I don't see that yet with Hana Kimi Ikemen Paradise(JPN).

As for Maki as Mizuki - she has a more cute quality than Ella as Rui Xi and yet, I prefer Ella with her outrageous facial expressions. You can actually see her as a cutish boy whereas Maki is sporting breasts more than once in the first ep. You can actually see she is a girl and now they want to pull it off Sano won't recognize it? Oh pluuuuuuuueaaaaaaze!

Well, I haven't read the manga or seen the Taiwanese version, so I won't be able to compare (assuming I end up watching this one, which I might b/c I like Oguri Shun!) I have seen negative comments on various LJs though, so I don't think you're alone in disliking the changes. I'll be waiting for subs to watch, anyway, so maybe by then I'll have a clearer idea of whether it's worth watching!

Uh, ya, boobs are usually a dead giveaway and high school boys would NEVER miss that! AHH!

well you're not the only one to think that ^^ there are tons of people thinking the same ^^ at least the ones who knows the story ^^ but everyone thinks the same, it was maybe to attract a lot of people so they did this first ep just like an Hana yori dango episode, so we should just wait for more episodes and see if it turns out cool ^^
i was really disappointed when i saw the first episode but then i realized i should just watch the drama without thinking about the drama or the taïwanese version.
i hope you'll be able to appreciate this drama ^^

You know, frankly I do not care much about Japanese or Taiwanese school dramas, if not for this little manga plot line from Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. And if you know it then you want to see it and so far only the names have been the same.

Awww, I'm sorry. I am enjoying it but do think the Taiwanese version is much better. This said, if they have Shun and Maki, I'll watch a drama about paint peeling, so I am biased.

I have read the manga a couple of years ago and re-read it when Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu came out. They pretty much stuck to the plot line even though they exagerrated quite a bit, but then it was so hilarious that you didn't doubt the plot too much (that of a girl disguising as a boy living among boys without detection).
