Overreaction thy name is LJ

After closing down or temperarily suspending both user accounts as well as comms due to pedophilistic charges in said comms and by users, LiveJournal is now overreacting. While I still applauded LiveJournal's consequent handling of the pedophile comms, now all I can do is shaking my head over some of the antics LJ is pulling due to the Warriors For Innocence shenanigans (which incidentally are on blogger.com. Anyone know if WFI ever did a thorough search through the blogger.com comms and users? I doubt it.)

Anyway, now LiveJournal - after closing a comm which was dedicated to Nabokov's work, esp. Lolita as well as several LJ's by Gothic Lolitas (rolls eyes) AND yaoi manga comms (fanfic etc.), they are now moving onward to delete questionable user icons. OI!!

What will be next? Certain dorama, manga and Johnny's icons prohibited?? *pets her icon of Tsu-kun and Taku-chan*
Child safety is good and nice, but this is going too far IMHO. Instead of doing a panicky purge every few years or so when someone is actually threatening to sue, keep track of certain comms and tighten the security. But this is ridiculous.

Hmm.. This is good from one point of view (you know what I think about the subject as a whole, and some of JE photo sessions of their teen boys). Yaoi? Well, personally I hate yaoi and will not cry about it at all...

But do Live Journal also battle with Nabokov's "Lolita", too? This is a bit absurdly. I don't like this novel nor this writer in general, but "Lolita" is a world literature classics already - it's s bit too late to make a fuss about it. IMHO

I know and I agree with you.
LJ really made a big mistake bypurging ALL comms and ljs using certain trigger words as they not only deleted literary comms but also child abuse support groups and what not. With this action they labeled anyone who is now with a deleted comm or LJ as a pedophile :s

*nods* I left an angry not in the replies of the last LJ news archive. this is really ridiculous. What will come next? Perhaps trigger words like: downloads, sibcest (for reference in doramas) or something in tags??

Well that is what they wanted to do but I think htey have seen the errors of their ways and have changed tactics. Atm they are re-instating some LJs.

yea i know they are trying to fix their fuck up. but deleting icons too? wow. thats just ajghsjkgkjdf. i mean i can understand if its really bad. but you know. you are in the JE fandom i see, as well. and alot of JE fans make jokes etc or write fanfiction for jr.s' ect. and just. wtf. there is no harm in that. i have some friends who have icons that i am sure could be deleted for what they say. but its just. jokes. ajhgshjgf. no one will think "hey i am going to go have child sex now" after seeing one you know?? jhsdg sorry. i am so agitated by this mess. lol

Well I'm not too much into the whole JE thing (I'm a fan of SMAP and Kimura) as there is this pedophile allegation with Johnny Kitigawa, however I know what you mean. Not everyone who is into yaoi or bishounen manga will go out there and become a pedophile all of a sudden.

Well you are aware i am sure of the JE fandom at least. I hate JE actually. (maybe i will some what accept Arashi and... i liek a few NewS songs.. as well as some T&T...) just all my friends are obsessed. and yea exactly. i think of of my friends even has an icon that reff's johnny-san as a pedo.

Oh I'm aware of the whole JE set-up and I actually loathe it. I would have stayed well away from the whole thing if not for SMAP and Kimura-san. At least they never have used Juniors for concerts and stuff like the new JE bands.

I also like some NewS and KAT-TUN stuff, but I would never actually support them to fill Johnny's pockets with even more money (apart from the CDs I buy of SMAP).

I know nothing about Smap though. the only thing i saw was something someone on my FLIST posted of them and Justin Timberlake. OH THE ENGRISH. lol. it was great. hahahah. And i wish i had but with an FLISH like mine it was inevitable. lol.

LOL ... yeah they have a weekly show where they do comedy, cook for their guests (and damn well I might add) and at the end of their show they either sing one of their own songs or do something with a musical guest.
I posted about SMAP and their songs as well as a short vid of skits form their show here (http://scottishlass.livejournal.com/225713.html).
What is so funny is that they did it first and now all the other kouhei groups (younger bands) have to do the same, so KAT-TUN have comedy shows, T&T, Arashi etc. But SMAP really takes it further, they even take the mikey out of themselves just for laughs. I don't see KAT-TUN or the other youngsters doing that. Perhaps it's the age, or perhaps SMAP is so much more than just an idol group as each member is also a good actor and artist in general. Yah, I'm biased :)

Biassed is ok. to tell you the truth, i really have no interest in JE at all. yea i like a lot of dramas they star in. but other then that i don't know anything about them other then what i have read on my friends page. what would you call it? i am some how forced to be a part of this fandom. hmm. lol.

also. kind of ashamed to say. the only smap thing i know really is -just- that Justin thing.. haha...

so maybe i will try and look into your post. but right now my mind inst in the right..set? haha. i worded that weird. anyways. when i am in the mood for some new music ill check them out 8D. though. my interest in one band hardly ever lasts longer then 1 or 2 weeks. haha.
