[kmovie] Under a blood red moon ...
Aug. 13th, 2005 12:18 amJust finished watching The Legend of the Evil Lake (Cheonnyeon ho). A beautiful South-Korean Fantasy movie about a lost kingdom and fated love. Those on my flist who love Hongkong movies, especially in the vain of Hero and Touch of Zen should check it out. Definitely a movie worth watching.
Plot: Thousands of years ago at the border of Korea and China a kingdom was founded. But to move all the ethnic groups of the Korean peninsula into one big nation, namely of Shilla, a big bad magician had to be killed. The fiercest warrior/general of the newly establiched kingdom did so by using a magic sword banning the magician into an icy lake.
A few centuries later, Shilla is being a prosperous and fierce kingdom. Ji-wan-bei, a young woman, is in love with General Biharang of Shilla, and he is in love with her but before they can even consumate their love or promise oneself to each other, the young woman stumbles across the lake.
Chased down by ruffians who want to seize the throne of Shilla, she tries to defend herself by pulling the sword out of the ground, thus freeing the evil magician.
Now, evil and good are now entangled in a fierce battle ... will love survive and win or will evil rule it all?
I was particularly riveted by one scene towards the end of the movie, where Biharang and Ji-wan-bei fall into the lake. *sniffle* Sooooo full of Angst and star-crossed love/rejection.
The photography of the movie is beautiful, the colours and lighting is very good. Quality acting, quality story. Not a MUST SEE, but a nice time to while the time away.
Jeesh only 00:34 AM and I'm dead on my feet. Going to bed now.
