scottishlass: (KS Lee Joon-ki read)
"If you sit long enough by the river you surely will see the bodies of your enemies float by."

Goodness me ... I just finished a book I have been reading on and off for almost a week now and when I read the last page I had goosebumps all over me skin ... it was that good. Strangely enough this story has parallels to my own life right now .. not so much the events of what had happened but that the protagonist and I have so much in common. The book is by Minette Walters and is called The Shape of Snakes. The protagonist of the book is a middle aged woman, ex-teacher, two kids, a husband who cannot let rest a murder of a woman she had known 20 years ago. The complete book is part diary - comprised of different letters and pathologist and police reports as well as prose. This woman, M. Ranelagh, sets out to meticulously find evidence that Annie Butts was indeed murdered and little by little she not only gathers the evidence but also orchestrates her own revenge. Twenty frelling years!! Well hopefully I have such a long time to orchestrate mine ... and what is the saying ...
If you sit long enough by the river you surely will see the bodies of your enemies float by.
