Anyone of the German speaking folks on my flist remember Dschingis Khan? No, not Temudjin, the Mongolian leader, but the German pop group of the same name? With a song of the same title?

I was just watching Birdman, the 1999 concert of SMAP and they are actually singing a cover version of DG LIVE!! in Japanese. OMG, this is really feels like a full circle *cough* I had that album back in 1979 *cough
To tell you the truth I don't know if I should feel amused or totally embarrassed - be it because one of our most recent German musical exports was a wannabe pop group in Mongolian drags or that SMAP (esp. Kimura Takuya) singing DG (Hey, Rider, Ho, Rider!).

*shakes head*

Buahahaa, I remember that song, though

Buahahaa, I remember that song, though <a href"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ9G744XPdI">in Finnish. It was impossible to escape hearing it all over when I was younger. Now I want to see the Japanese version as well *g*.

I always associate the song with the singer Frederik's macho posturing, and the only thing I can feel is very much amused. Gosh, checking out if youtube had Frederik's version, I also came across this recent live performance which is a medley of his biggest hits, containing such immortal classics as [heavy sarcasm here], "Sheikki Ali Hassan" (Sheik Ali Hassan), "Harva meistä on rautaa" (Few of Us Are Made of Iron), and "Titanic".

ROTFLMAO! Mirroring your feelings above, I don't know if I should be amused or embarrassed that I can sing along to all of these songs...

Yeah it works :) So it is definitely the Mount Fuji file that is corrupted and not some weird option in my computer.

The song is the 10th or 11th. A lot of hip grinding .... and you will recognize it with Dschin- Dschin- Dschingis Khaaaan, hey, brother, ho brother, drink another! (OMG I even can sing it in English - Jeesh!) The pop group of the same name won 4th place of the European Song contest back in 1979 or 1980 I think - with that song. The second highest ranking we ever won in that contest.

OMG!!! Well, it somehow assures me a bit that bad taste in music is not solely a German thing :)

Oh yes, that was the second song ... I have to rip the Dschinghis Khan part. The hip grinding is hilarious :)
