Trigger-happy assholes
Jun. 26th, 2006 02:04 pmThis morning our Germany's sole wild-living bear (the first one for 130 years) was shot dead by certified hunters.
The bear had held us captured for more than a month as it passed the borders of Italy, Austria and Germany for a quite a bit and feeding on sheep and goats that were up there on the Alpine meadows.
Of course, officials soon labelled him a problem bear. Why? Because - so the officials - he had lost his natural fear for humans. Strange though that humans never really saw the bear, only the goats and sheeps that were running around unconfined. But officials said, the bear had to go and he was too close to people ... and this morning Bruno met his untimely death.
He was still a very young bear, not fully grown. Here is the only picture of Bruno it is blurry and the original only shows lots of meadows with a blurry brown spot in the middle. Too close to people my butt.
