He didn't know what to say. For years, he had always known what to say. Demands, orders. Words all asked, bellowed, yelled. He had always known what to say. But this time he was without the words that he always so coveted and respected.
Watching the woman beyond the window, he tried to sort out his emotions. He still could not believe that this was true, especially to him. For all his years in indentured servitude as well as the Corps, he had never felt this elation, this wonder.
Seeing his wife cradling his newly-born son – it was a miracle.
