Men of the West - Withstand!
Dec. 28th, 2004 01:57 amOver this weekend I saw the complete extended edition again and all I can say is WOW ... for the rest of the week Olly and I will be watching all the extras, specials and easter eggs :)
Christmas was a very quiet affair though my parents of course had to cause trouble again ... even if it was unintentional (yeah right, and I'm the Queen of Scotland).
Sigh ...sometimes I do wonder how I have grown up to be such an unspoiled, paranoia free person. My parents deliberately (even after I had reminded them) forgot Olly's birthday ... then they had the chuzpe to assume I would leave my husband alone on Christmas Eve (that is when we get our presents, and not a day later). Well to cut a long story short, my parents behaved like the morons they are and I guess they just showed off their own stupidity. They are as sensitive as a bucket full of puke :-(
I feel a very deep anger within me, something simmering and boiling and I think if my parents once more behave this way, I'll explode. They ALWAYS expected me to behave according to society's codes and regulations. They instilled in me the feeling to respect my elders, but enough is enough, if they do not show me and mine respect than they cannot expect respect from me in return. I'm so fed up with them that I think I will be really angry with them the next time I talk to them (either by phone or face to face).
Enough, I am on holidays ... I have almost two more weeks of laziness before me and I WILL NOT let my parents be the reason I cannot enjoy my well-deserved break.
As for Christmas this year ... I can't believe that another tragedy has happened, last year Bam and this year the Bay of Bengal. I got really angry that the emphasis of German television was on how many GERMAN tourists were dead instead of all the other native inhabitants. I'm shocked, and sad about this.
They interviewed some idiot German woman who explained how all the tsunami came to pass and she calmly states that ten minutes before the tsunami hit the beach, the water retreated rapidly away from the shore, she then said that they all went to investigate. ARE THEY CRAZY???? Didn't they watch all those blasted documentaries about tsunamis? Or even Deep Impact?? Of course the water retreats due to the pull of the wave advancing. Human curiosity - thy name is stupidity.
Still, it is awful for all the ppl living there and having lost their loved ones and family as well as their livelihood. It will take time and effort to rebuild what was destroyed.
I'm in awe of Earth and of her ruthless power.
