Question: If the world population turns vegan all of a sudden, what happens to all the animals? And I mean those we eat and use for leather, wool etc. Cows, pigs, chickens ... will they all die out?Especially as most meadows will be turned into fields because .. well the ppl have to be fed. These animals would be our food competitors. According to PETA breed specific lifestyle for animals is a MUST, so if it is not breed specific it has to go. I do have my problems with PETA, they are always so easily ready to euthanize animals if there is no place for them. They are just a tad too fanatical IMHO. And I do not want to imagine a world where veganism is the new world order and little by little the very animals they all so readily wanted to spare quietly get extinct. Because a) they are not needed anymore, b) keeping them wouldn't be breed specific and natural and c) farting cows are responsible for climate change.

Have been working in the garden yesterday all day that I forgot it's Spring Equinox already!! We have the most amazing (and most welcomed) sunshine for the last two days and it looks like we will have some more today. The ground is still wet and cold but working in the sun already works up a wee bit of sweat and it is just wonderful to feel the sun on one's back and neck while weeding and getting the hedge cuttings. My strawberry seedlings have grown so strong that I think they can go into the ground now - I just need to remind myself to cover them up during the night.

It is amazing how peaceful and quiet life with so many different animals is. Five dogs and none has reacted to HUmpelchen (our duck) other than a feathery friend. Other dogs would have seen it as prey, but not our five idiots LOL

One of our ducks is sick and we have yet another feathered guest living with us in the house again.

And our dogs are so cool with it, they even ignore her (most of the time, but for Lulu stealing the lettuce).

The past weekend was a long one for some of us here in G. as we celebrated carnival in some parts of this republic. Especially the Lower Rhine area is (in)famous for its Carnival festivities.
However, Hubby and I are not too keen on that whole humbug, so we got together with friends and cooked together, ate together, laughed and drank together. And had a potluck today at our house with the surplus from last night and afterwards we finally took the stained ceiling in the bathroom down.
I had nightmarish visions of lots of mildew and mold in the original ceiling but low and behold, only white old plaster with a beautiful but sadly destroyed plaster rosette appeared. No mildew, no black mold.

Now we have to find a way to close the ceiling again - the plaster could be restored but the tiles have been put on drywall standers and the plaster doesn't fit to the tiles :(
Anyway, I am so relieved, I cannot describe it in words.

Did I say it was the end of winter yesterday???? I guess I was wrong .. it is snowing and it keeps. *sigh*
I have to get out - snow shoveling.

For the last couple of days we had frozen condensation on several windows and window panels of doors in our house in the mornings. It's so frigging cold that washing is still out of the question (water pipes are still frozen :s) and working outside is a pain in the neck. I don't know how many times I have worked with numb hands and didn't realize I have cut myself etc.

Have caught a cold and bronchitis, need to take antibiotics and I feel as if someone has thrown me in a dryer. At least winter is coming to an end hopefully. I usually get a cold mostly in the beginning and the end of winter ...

The ground is still too frozen to set up the new green house, hopefully with the moist weather warmth will also come our way so that I can not only get up the greenhouse but also start seeding my first plants.
