Tinkering away

Something must be seriously wrong when I go shopping in a diy mart and come away with enough lumber to build a deluxe dog house, when I only wanted to buy a huge plastic barrel to use as a temporary duck shelter. For two hours I have worked in the barn and built a little shelter for the four ducks we now own. It looks like a veritable manger with the straw and everything LOL

His Hubbiness™ was awed and the way he got out of my way when I handled the saw bespeaks of either total bewilderness or total fright rotflmao.

I love my power tools :)

Ducks! Did you get them just because, or are you hoping to raise them? I don't even know how duck eggs compare to chicken eggs, or whether people get ducks to produce eggs the way some people get chickens.

Well we got them because they needed a new home and we already have four chickens (and enough eggs to hand them out as gifts). They would have ended up at the animal shelter or in a cooking pot, so we took them.
I think chicken eggs and duck eggs only differ in size, although the Runner Ducks are really petite and I think they will have smaller eggs than our chickens.

I have to admit that I was supposed to take up apprenticeship as a cabinet maker when I was 16 because of my stepfather's vintage furniture company. I worked as a lay person to polish up my pocket money when I was 13 to 19.
Since then I only started recently to built again ... which is fun now, where the pressure of doing this as a job for the rest of my life is gone LOL

I think some of our passions are best left as hobbies, eh?
