Watched Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi last night and loved it. As there is no chance the movie hitting our theatres anytime at all and with the official DVD still to be released I d/led a really bad screen rip but OMG! it was worth it.
I can't wait to watch it on DVD :)

So what did I love?
- SRK makes Suri so ordinary looking with his 80s wire glasses and mustachio, the trousers and those white long-arm shirts. He is adorkable and boring and yet so dependable. He is loved by his friends and colleagues and I just LOVE him. Not because he is SRK in guise but because he is such a nice and calm man. He is steeped in tradition and yet in so many ways he is such a modern man, a man with respect towards women and an innate goodness. In his not so handsome looking ways he is a true hero, sensitive, dorky and just lovable.

- Anushka Sharma as Taani. She is weak, yet strong, traditional, yet modern and I like that she - even though she had told Suri that she cannot love him - still has enough feeling of guilt, to care about him.

- Bobby!! A fashion-challenged, motorriding hairdresser - what is not to love? Bestr friend of Suri who is the voice of reason to Raj.

- the music ... oh I love all the songs and the picturizations. Wonderfully done and just fit. For a couple of movies now I mostly waited through/ffw through the songs as they came on so sudden, didn't fit at all and left me feeling like they were put in at random times and not helping the overall plot at all.

- the dream sequence with Kajol and SRK dancing ... YES!!! Even though SRK can make any female lead sizzling hot and create the perfect jodi, Kajol and Sharukh are still my favourite pairing. There is a sense of carefree friendship, of respect and just enough mirth and taking the mickey out of each other that translate to hot sizzling chemistry on screen. *sigh*

All in all a very happy, happy movie, with the right mix of feminism (SRK I love you for that, esp. as a male, Muslim Indian), comedy and Angst.

-----
As for my health ... still coughing and sneezing ... I guess I have to cancel my tandem with Yuriko tomorrow :( I hate that. I really do.

Totally incoherent post ... :D

LOL ... OMG ... this ad is so funny. Head over to [livejournal.com profile] wasabi_girl1's LJ. For those who are not into Bollywood, the ad shows three superstars of Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The Khans are not related but real close friends (so close that they play off each other slashy overtones), Saif is a real life prince and Kareena is his real life girl-friend.

Can't wait for this week's SMAPxSMAP .... Tony Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro as Bistro guests ... Yes!!! I wonder though if Kaneshiro talks in Japanese or Mandarin :)
Still stoked about my Kanji writing ... I learnt so many Kanji and with this so many words and how to pronounce them.

Funny (embarrassing) thing happened to me yesterday. I was listening to SMAP's new album and especially STILL U. And singing along LOUD!!! Considering I sound like Nakai while singing ... oh what the heck, I'm old enough to be cool about making a fool of myself IN PUBLIC!!!

And I think Still U is one of the best happy SMAP songs ever ... great to wake up to :)
we're always together like a tattoo
Just one thing, is Takuya really wearing girly hair clips in his hair? Did he raid his two little girls' dresser or what? :)

Having read all those con reports really made me realize that ONCE in my life I want to attend a SMAP concert. *pout* Even if it means being seperated from my pups for more than a week. *sigh*

Little update on the fansubbing: Have only about 2 minutes of translation to do on the SMAP SPECIAL Climbing Fuji Mountain (Nakai & Tsuyoshi) episode. After that, I have to check it again and then I can release it. It was a long wait I know but Tsuyoshi is a mumbler, esp. when he pouts and whines. :D
After that it will be another SMAP Special Climbing Mt. Fuji, again with Tsuyoshi (totally hung over) and TAKUYA!!!

Rewatched Dil Se last night again and I'm always in awe of the music by AR Rahman.

From the delightful and light Chaiya Chaiya to the very disturbingly beautiful Satrangi Re to Dil Se Re... not only does the music fit, the picturization in some of these are just perfect.
come with me dance on the top of a running train )

Additionally, the movie though disturbing is one of the best movies to come from Bollywood. Its director Mani Ratnam was following the "7 Stages of Love" from beginning to end, and in such disturbing and bhauntingly beautiful cinematography it makes you weep. And Shah Rukh Khan is good in this movie, and I love Manisha Koirala!

Just zapped through all the channels to look for something worthwhile when I came across a preview of upcoming movies this March.
German TV Channel RTL2 will show KANK this month. OMG ... they actually show KANK!! *faints*

I finally finished ep 2 subs of Gift. I sent it to Rika and hopefully we can post the ep over the weekend or early next week. YAY!!!
Have started on ep 3 and will work the whole day tomorrow on it, and hopefully I will finish this one before the weekend hits. The series itself is very funny. I like it that even though it has a serious background (a guy without memory seeking his past) it doesn't take itself too seriously and Naomi and Noranasei just crack me up - and a young 24 year old Kimura is always nice to look at. :)

I will be heading for bed now ... one evening where I go to bed before 2 AM at last *lol*

*Everything I tell you is the proof we were here.
