scottishlass: (Sewing snow)
Last night they said that a cold front with heavy snow is rolling in from the west and that we should expect heavy snow fall between 6 and 7 AM this morning. Usually when we hear this we laugh, most of the snow gets melted anyway due to the warmer climate in our neck of the woods, esp. when the weather is coming from the West from the Atlantic ocean and the Bay of Biscay. If it is Easterly weather with the cold from Russia, then we get nervous but Westerly weather? HA! HA! HA!

Well, judging from the flurries of snow flakes tumbling like mad ever which way outside my window that weather forecast has been right, and the snow even sticks!!! Well I don't care if I get snowed in here but His Hubbiness™ is at work and needs to drive back about 50 kilometres this afternoon :(

His Hubbiness™ took some photographs at the Christmas Eve caroling. It was one of those rare moments where I didn't look like an old fat hag but like a young one LOL
I thought I'd share the two pics, His Hubbiness™ took :)

if it didn't shed a pityful light on my husband.

As I have posted before, His Hubbiness ™ bought a new digital camera earlier last month (our Christmas present - yeah right) and has been fiddling with it, and reading up on digital photography ever since. Actually I don't mind. Seriously, I'm happy that he now has a second hobby besides the dogs.
However, current events is now turning my amusement over ridiculous behaviour in my husband to sheer annoyance. During the last two years we have been sharing our old camera (one of those point and shoot thingies) and there was never a competition between who made the better pictures ... but now? He is so pissed off that my photos - even those showing movement - come out better on my cam than it comes out on his with the super duper camera with special zoom and what not. I think he is pissed off that I'm one of those point and click photographers rather than one of thos taking forever for a picture and still get better results (which is IMHO not true, but tell that to a male).

Anyway, here are pictures ... MY pictures, as His Hubbiness™ is being bitchy about his ones. da pictures )

Hubby has his new camera and low and behold he now thinks he is a male Annie Liebowitz or something. Of course, the photos look stunning ... it is a professional camera after all. *sigh*

Here are some photos he took tonight ... )

Last night while surfing the lights went out and there was a distinct smell of burning rubber in the air ... Why? The power unit of our internet computer went kaboom. It took out the fuse and pretty much the whole computer as well.
And of course, His Hubbiness™ couldn't take a few minutes till I had set up my computer as the internet PC and resetted the router, which resulted in ME being up all night trying to configure it again and resulting in me being totally tired, overwrought and near tears right now.

Email is still out, but I can get onto the net and download (AMEN!)

This morning at about 9 AM His Hubbiness™ thought it would be cool to re-do our living room. Thank goodness, he didn't want to re-paint the walls but he wanted to change the set-up of our living area and change the furniture around.
So of course, it had to be done RIGHT THEN AND THERE! It is now 02:20 and I finally have finsihed hoooking up the internet again, while the living-room still looks like a bomb exploded. But at least His Hubbiness™ is happy and all his DVDs fit now into one huge shelf, and even all my Asian DVDs have now found a place where I can easily access them.
Tomorrow I have to put all the books back and also get rid of all the junk/garbage that I have found. And then we'll be finished. I just hope we still have a lot of space to put stuff, atm it doesn't look like it, but I won't say a thing otherwise His Hubbiness™ is pouting again.

I'm totally beat and will go to bed soon. But first I'll take a shower - a long, hot relaxing shower.

So hubby was delighted about his birthday presents :) Good thing, and I'm glad all the last minute online-shopping still went smoothly *lol*

The day was quite stressful, still have to assemble our new bathroom cupboard --- ARGH!! But then again I did finish almost anything I had on my list ... but I just realized I have to get going on some of my sewing projects.
Why?
Because in January we already have two major events coming up and also in the first week of January I am holding a little Regency tea party here at my home :) it will be a work meeting as the ladies I have invited are all going to the same afore mentioned events and I need all the moral support to complete my dress projects I can get :)

3rd January - Regency Tea party at my home : Green Regency dress (the Christmas dress)
15th January - 1900 Outing : Black skirt, brown jacket, blouse, underthings
28th January - Regency/Empire Soiree (Antiquity 1806) : white muslin dress greek style

So I have my work more than cut out for me - sigh

Okay ... I have been awake since 3AM and have hauled Olly's butt over to the emergency room. He really did pull a sinew in his back which prevented him from breathing properly hence resulting in heart-racing and such.
Geesh, he really scared me because apart from the occasional cold, he is never sick. I'm not prepared to be a widow yet, thank you very much.

Anyway, he is at work now after the doctor fixed him. I didn't sleep so instead of going back to bed and probably oversleeping, I got out all my files and images from my mother's side of the family and ordered a new domain. I want to make a genealogic site for my german part of the family, as most ancestors that can be looked up on the net, are mispronounced/misspelled. Now I hve to get all the files together and have to start from 25th June 1293 where Simon de Axlem got the first title by Waldemort I of Denmark all down to my mom and also the children of my great-uncle. Need to get my parents to scan in the heraldic banner. (ack - major groveling involved here)
